She's the man is a film about a girl who wants to play soccer (football) and pretends to be a boy to do so. Emily's character is a relatively small but wonderfully played one. She plays Eunice Bates, a somewhat odd young woman who is not exactly popular with the "cool" kids.
This is one of my favorite roles of Emily's as it was the first time she really showed her talent for comedy. She showed us that she can do "cute and nerdy" just as well as she does "dark and sardonic". A surprisingly nice change after the (wonderful) Ginger Snaps films. Emily is no "one trick pony", on the contrary, she most likely has more tricks up her sleeve than Eunice has tissues. I also personally thought the glasses and braces were cute on her.
Adorably awkward and beautiful as always, Emily stole every frame she was in as the intense but lovable Eunice.
